Levy Electric Scooter review
The Levy has a super-responsive throttle with no noticeable accelerator lag. Push down on the accelerator, and the scooter immediately comes to life, offering punchy acceleration in zero-start mode.
Despite the very good acceleration, the motor is surprisingly quiet — even at full throttle and under high stress, such as during hill climb. The Levy scooter has a top speed of 19 mph, according to our tests.
This is plenty fast for typical urban commuting. Typical scooters in this price range have top speeds of between 15 mph and 19 mph. The Levy scooter has a manufacturer-claimed range of 15 miles in Eco mode and miles in Sport mode with stop-and-go city riding. Learn more: technical guide to electric scooter brakes.Micah Toll. Electric scooters certainly have a lot of advantages, yet one of their few downsides has always been the built-in i. But now with the Levy electric scooter, riders can finally remove their battery from the scooter to charge more conveniently and help mitigate theft. And that was before I learned that the Levy electric scooter was one of the only electric scooters on the market to feature a removable battery.
So I was definitely excited to get the chance to review the Levy electric scooter and add another notch on my scooter belt, so to speak. The first thing to know about the Levy electric scooter is that it feels more robust than the standard, generic electric scooters that we see just about everywhere. Is it as strong as some heavy-duty, full suspension electric scooters like the popular Mercane WideWhee l?
The Levy scooters are strong enough that they are being used for fleet purposes around the country. They are also being used in a rental program in NYC similar to the ubiquitous Lime and Bird electric scooter sharing programs.
In fact, Levy played a large role in lobbying for legalizing electric scooters in New York. The company even went as far as changing the L train symbol in subway stations into an electric scooter in a not-so-subtle suggestion to subway riders that a scooter might be a more pleasurable commuting experience. The Levy electric scooter does feature pneumatic tires, which I really appreciate. So many scooters are moving to airless tires these days.
While airless tires do give the advantage of no flats, they also make for a harsh ride on anything other than perfectly smooth, well-manicured paths. With the air-filled tires on the Levy electric scooter, I can ride over bricks and sidewalk cracks without worrying about my teeth shaking out of my skull. The pull on the Levy is also very nice. You can feel the W peak motor really pulling hard when you accelerate. No one is going to miss seeing it.
Without a doubt though, my favorite part of the Levy electric scooter is the removable battery. The display lid pops up and you can slide the battery right out of the top of the waterproof stem enclosure. This offers a couple of big benefits. First, you can leave your scooter in the garage, bike rack, lobby, or anywhere else while carrying just the battery into your apartment, home, or office to charge more conveniently.
No need to carry the whole scooter somewhere to charge. Next, you can go further by carrying a spare battery. The dang thing only weighs a couple of pounds — just toss it in your backpack and forget about it.
No more range anxiety! So having a second battery is a nice addition. Lastly, the removable battery helps mitigate theft, or at least take some of the ouch out of e-scooter theft.
The battery is usually the single most valuable part of any electric vehicle. When e-bikes, e-scooters, or e-anythings get stolen, if you still have the battery then replacing the vehicle costs less.
No one runs quickly while hauling around twenty-something pounds of electric scooter. And then they can just jack your battery if you leave it there unattended.
The good news is that the battery is small and easy to take with you.The Levy is a nice-looking electric scooter. While a few wires protrude here and there, it keeps a sleek profile.Adminer 4 6 2 cve
When unfolded, the Levy measures When folded, it measures 17 inches high, which was small enough to fit underneath a train seat. The scooter is available in three color variations: black with turquoise accents, black with red accents, and blue accents with a silver front post. The controls for the Levy are spartan but effective.
On the right side is a thumb throttle that has a power button and a menu button. A circular light-emitting diode LED display, roughly the size of a silver dollar, sits in the middle of the handlebars. The screen shows your speed and approximate remaining battery life. I say approximate, because on some rides, the screen would show two bars of battery life, but the scooter would refuse to move unless I was on a level or downhill grade.
However, this also makes the downtube thicker than on other scooters, so those with smaller hands may have more trouble carrying the Levy. The Levy also has a tail light, which also flashes whenever you apply the brakes. Size unfolded : Riding over potholes and sidewalk cracks was much less jarring than with the Glion Dolly, which has rubber wheels. I was impressed with its speed — up to 18 miles per hour—as well as its ability to get my pound body up inclines with ease.
It took me up hills better than the Glion and the Swagtron Swagger 5. When enabled, the scooter would stay at a consistent speed as long as I maintain that speed for a few seconds. This option keeps you from having to hold your thumb on the throttle, and a simple tap of the brakes turns off cruise control. The Levy has a rear disc brake, which was very effective. Because the scooter uses a traditional hand grip on the left handlebarI found I was able to apply just the right amount of pressure.
The battery was beefy enough to keep me riding through my entire six-mile test course, with a little juice left over. There's a lot to ponder when choosing the best electric scooter. Who's going to ride it? Are you taking it up and down hills? Are you going to use it in a city? The Best Electric Scooters You Should Buy
And, of course, how much do you want to spend? Electric scooters have exploded in popularity because they're are an easy way to get around, they don't require much of a learning curve, and you don't need a license to drive one.
Even now, there's an electric scooter for just about everyone, but before you make an investment, it's important to get the one best suited for your needs. The Unagi has a large, bright display, easy to use controls, a built-in horn, and bright head- and taillights.
It also has a sleek design that's sure to turn heads, and you can even get a custom skin as an add-on.
The best electric scooter for commuters is the Glion Dolly, because it folds up more compactly than others, and even has a handle and two small wheels that lets you tote it like a rolling suitcase when you're not riding it.
Curious to ride an electric scooter and wonder what's available? Here are the best electric scooters in varying price ranges. Size folded : Thanks to its dual watt motors, the Unagi Model One powers up hills with aplomb, zipping along twice as fast as other scooters with just a single motor. Using both motors you can opt to use just one causes the battery life to drop significantly lower than the scooter's advertised mile range.
The Unagi also has a great display that's bright enough to easily see even in daylight; we also liked its intuitive controls and loud, electric-sounding horn.Baby kab chalne lagta hai
It has both head and taillights, the latter of which blinks rapidly when you hit the brakes. We were also enamored with the Unagi's sleek design; its carbon-fiber front post changes in geometry from a circle to a triangular shape, making for an intriguing look.Rune factory 4 doug
And, on Unagi's site, you can personalize the look with custom skins. Read our full Unagi Model One review. Long range, good speed, and travel-friendly features make the Glion Dolly the best electric scooter for commuters. Size: Because of its ultra-folding design, the Glion Dolly is the best electric scooter for those who have to take it on public transportation.Instahack top
The Dolly is foldable, and at It can reach top speeds of 15 miles per hour and lasts for about 15 miles of roaming, which makes it a good fit for small city dwellers. The Dolly has a bright headlight and built-in tail reflector, helpful when riding home in the evening or in the winter months when the sun sets too early, as well as integrated fenders for protecting the wheels.
You can also transport the Dolly like a suitcase when you're not riding it, and it comes with a kickstand so that it stays upright on its own. Perhaps the only drawback of the Glion Dolly are its small hard rubber wheels and lack of suspension, which makes for a bumpier ride than other electric scooters. Read our full Glion Dolly review.
We loved riding the Levy electric scooter; its air-filled tires handled sidewalks and potholes with ease, and its powerful Watt motor got us up the steepest of hills. The Levy also has a good range, but if you have to go longer distances, you can swap out its battery—a feature most other electric scooters lack. Other things we're fans of are its cruise control, flashing taillight when braking, and bright display. Read our full Levy electric scooter review.
The Swagtron Swagger 5 Elite is another affordable scooter, though this one is a little faster at a top speed of 18 mph. It's well-equipped, with a collapsible chassis, a watt motor, and an air-filled front tire, which makes for a smooth ride.Any device that gets people out of fossil-fuel guzzlers and congestion creators is a win in our books. But when it comes to those electronic scooters, you might want to look into buying your own, rather than renting.
First of all, you won't have to carry around your own pack of disinfectant wipes every time you want to use one — and you can keep your social distancing game strong. But even down the line, there are huge benefits.
You're more likely to understand how it works if you own it, meaning fewer accidents and careless casualties. Plus, you won't be tempted to randomly litter the sidewalk in front of someone's house or business when you're through with it. And while it's obviously much cheaper to rent a scooter at as low as 50 cents per minuteif you use it more regularly, it becomes cheaper per mile in the long run to own.
Try the Levy Plus Electric Scooter on for size. Boasting a W motor with W peak capacity, the Levy Plus can take you where you need to go at up to 18 mph with zero emissions.
It'll run for about 16 miles on a single charge, and if you run out of juice, you can easily swap out battery packs. That's right: it has a removable battery but you'll have to buy an additional pack separately.
Need to travel a few blocks at night? No problem. It has both bright LED headlights and a taillight. Plus, there's an onboard computer with an LCD display that tells you your speed and battery range, so you won't get stranded without a charge.Skew t stability
The Levy Plus is also super easy to control, thanks to regenerative front brakes and a mechanical rear brake. And when you get to where you need to go, you can easily just fold it up and take it indoors. No need to ditch it on the side of the road. We're using cookies to improve your experience.
